Hours of operation during growing season:
Daily, 10:00 to 5:00.
So, we are in our second year of existence. Pretty pshyced about that. Last years garden produced well despite the weather. More importantly, we learned a lot. As I suspect we will this year too. It’s one of the great things about gardening- there’s always something to learn and the feeling of “How can I do this better next year?” Gardening is so simple. I wish more people did it. There are great lessons in nurturing and patience. If you are a Type A personality like me, it is a great place to unleash those controlling tendencies. Every plant is precisely where I want it and every variety is exactly what I want. I am so fussy about my plants it would be considered ridiculous, especially about my tomatoes. I start them all from seed and won’t let Mark touch them until they are ready to go into the ground and even then, they are still “my girls”. It is so great to have a healthy place for some of my personality complexes to get released in a non offending way.
I’m not afraid to admit that I have some compulsive tendencies because gardening is great therapy. When I discovered that the madness of weeding is a fantastic outlet for my compulsiveness – it was like a break through in a therapy session. I can be as compulsive as I want. As picky as I want to be. Even my husband and son look forward to weeding season, it gives them a little peace. Anyone who has a garden can give you a list of the therapeutic values they get from it. Relaxation, solitude, inspiration, hope. A garden gives us food for our bodies but it’s tending the garden that feeds our souls. More of us should try it.
